The time for environmentally responsible purchasing on a global scale nears. At Earth Mom, our top goal is to encourage every business entity on the planet to become fully accountable for the impact of their operations and production processes upon the environment we all share. We plan to accomplish this simply by attracting, educating and arming our Earth Mom members with eco-friendly information on the products they buy and the environmental records of the companies who produce them. In theory, only a small percentage will be required to change their spending habits to impact the bottom lines of some of the largest companies on the planet.

With the launch of our new social media movement, we seek participation from manufacturers who are willing to openly demonstrate their concern for the environment. As our organization builds into the millions, imagine our members lining up to reward your company above all others in your field, in return for providing the most eco-friendly products and services available anywhere on the globe.

As QR, Bar Codes and RFI technology continue to evolve, our members will one day soon employ the hands free use of smart phones, Ipads, tablets, lap tops, etc., affixed to their shopping carts to automatically scan and easily discern the most eco-friendly products and suppliers in real time. With just a few clicks of their key pads, they will offer invaluable instant feedback to you as to why they did or did not choose your products over others.

Take Advantage of our Free Business Memberships. We ask that you meet some simple requirements designed to prove your business entity along with your products and services are truly moving toward our ultimate goal of insuring we have protecting our beautiful blue planet for all future generations to enjoy. Many global companies are already way out in front by more than satisfying these simple requirements without any prodding. Very soon, you will begin to find many of these companies listed at the top of our preferred vendor lists. To insure your company is listed alongside, consider taking the following action.

  1. If not already existing, develop a comprehensive company environmental protection policy web page. Distribute an e-mail alerting each employee, supplier and sub-contractor associated with your business entity as to the link avowing your renewed commitment to the environment. (Examples Available)
  2. Add your choice of either our Earth Mom icon, our R icon, a generic Recycle Icon or if you have developed an alternate logo/icon to specifically represent your company’s environmental policy page, add that icon to the face page of your website and link your policy page to that icon for anyone including our members to easily reference.
  3. As part of this policy, announce that you’ve taken a collective pledge vowing to protect the air, water and earth we all share. We invite you adopt and post our official Earth Mom Pledge or create your own.
  4. Establish a committee devoted specifically to exploring environmental issues facing your company and industry. Commit a minimum of at least a one hour each quarter to meet and review policy mandates, set new benchmarks and monitor your environmental progress. Keep minutes of each meeting and make them available to your committee members to review your progress.
  5. Depending upon the size of your company, establish one or more environmental compliance officers to oversee progress on the many areas where your operations can stand to improve on your environmental practices. Companies with over 100 employees should consider establishing a part to full time position dedicated first to investigating new ways to reduce waste, increase energy efficiency, take advantage of government incentives and insure compliance of your existing environmental mandates. Most companies of any size will find that efforts along these lines will typically more than offset the cost of establishing this position.
  6. Charge each of your department heads with the responsibility to document and evaluate the types of wastes generated by their department and make timely recommendations on how to cut back on, neutralize and one day soon, totally eliminate the needless disposal of materials. Have their efforts evaluated and monitored on a monthly/quarterly or annual basis to gauge improvements.
  7. Extend an offer for every employee to join our Earth Mom organization. A high saturation of Earth Mom members ingrained within your organization bodes highly for your environmental efforts.
  8. As part of your new environmental policy, establish a whistle-blower program that encourages employees to report suspicious activities and specifically protects any employee from malicious retribution should they expose any questionable practices on the part of your company, its divisions, dbas, sister companies, or on your suppliers and subcontractors.
  9. Require as part of enjoying your supplier line patronage, that every entity that supplies products or services to your company, develops their own environmental policy, distributes it to their employees and posts it to their website if available. Give each supplier up to 3 notices over a maximum of 90 days to make the required commitment or find alternative suppliers that are eagerly willing to make this basic commitment to the environment we all share.
  10. Be honest and forthright in any environmental claims you make either toward yourselves or others.
